Two people, a man and a woman, pulled into a parking lot in front of the residence in a black Ford Explorer on Monday, Sept. 9, the Bensalem Police Department said.

A man, later identified as Paul Miclescu, 28, of Baltimore, stayed in the driver's side of the vehicle while the unidentified woman got out and approached the Bensalem woman on her porch, according to police.

The Bensalem woman doesn't speak English and didn't understand what the female suspect said before she began removing the jewelry from around the Bensalem woman's neck, police said. The female suspect then tried to replace the jewelry she was taking from the woman with fake jewelry.

When the Bensalem woman resisted, the female suspect pulled all of the jewelry from her, got back into the Explorer, and fled with Miclescu, according to police. They left with two necklaces and a bracelet valued at about $15,000.

Detectives with the Bensalem Police Department reviewed video surveillance footage of the incident along with footage from police intersection cameras and license plate readers and traced the Explorer to an AVIS Rental Car Company, police said. One of the cameras also caught Miclescu, who was later identified.

The Explorer was caught on camera in the Bensalem area prior to the robbery, and Miclescu was caught on camera getting out of the vehicle at a local Wawa, according to police.

Bensalem detectives and officers from the Baltimore County Police Department arrested Miclescu from his home on Landington Avenue in Baltimore on Thursday, Sept. 26, police said.

He had various pieces of jewelry in his possession, but none of them were from the Bensalem robbery, according to police. Authorities believe he pawned the items for cash somewhere in Maryland.

Miclescu was charged with Robbery - Taking Property from Other with Force, Theft by Unlawful Taking - Movable Property, and Receiving Stolen Property.

He's being held in the Bucks County Correctional Facility on $1 million bail, according to court documents. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Police are still actively investigating the female suspect's identity, the Bensalem Police Department said.
